2022 Kia Niro Hybrid | Evansville, IN
If you’re looking for an efficient SUV, Kia has multiple options to choose from within its hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric lineup. The Kia Niro Hybrid arrived in 2016 and has only gotten better over time.
The 2022 Kia Niro Hybrid is available at five trim levels: LX, LXS, LXS Special Edition, Touring Special Edition, and EX Premium.
You’ll have the option of many sophisticated colors for the Niro’s exterior, including standout options like Horizon Blue, Solar Orange, and Runway Red. You can also choose from the standard 16-inch Aero wheels or available options like 16- or 18-inch alloy wheels. Other visual highlights of the new Kia Niro include gloss black accents and a rear spoiler.
When it comes to function, standard amenities include roof rails, power-adjustable outside mirrors, and heated rear glass. As you move through the Niro lineup, you’ll find even more helpful features like full LED lighting, fog lights, and heated outside mirrors with integrated turn signals.
Of course, with a hybrid SUV, the first thing you might think of is performance. The 2022 Niro Hybrid houses a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine under the hood and works with a Full Parallel Hybrid System. This generates a respectable 139 horsepower, 195 lb-ft of torque, 53 mpg in the city, and 48 mpg on the highway. The Niro is also equipped with regenerative braking that stores energy when you slow down to help charge the vehicle’s lithium-ion battery.
The cabin of the new Kia Niro Hybrid was crafted with the driver in mind. For starters, dual-zone automatic temperature control is standard and offers Driver Only mode that focuses the AC on the driver’s area. Available options include a 10-way power driver’s seat with two-way power lumbar support, leather or synthetic (SynTex) leather seats, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel, and satin chrome inside door handles.
Stay connected, no matter where you’re headed in the 2022 Kia Niro. The standard 8-inch touch-screen display comes with Kia Connect remote connectivity. This lets you remotely control the vehicle and do things like lock or unlock the doors, start the engine, set the cabin temperature, and more. All models also come with wireless Apple CarPlay® and wireless Android Auto™, Bluetooth® wireless technology, a USB audio input, a front 12-volt power outlet, a USB charge port, and a six-speaker audio system.
For the ultimate music experience, consider choosing the Touring Special Edition or EX Premium trims, which come with a Harman Kardon® eight-speaker sound system with Clari-Fi™ technology and an integrated subwoofer. These models also come with a wireless phone charger and a larger 10.25-inch touch-screen display that has HD Radio™, SiriusXM® satellite radio, and a voice-command navigation system.
To get some of the best safety systems that the Niro has to offer, you’ll want to choose the LXS model and above. These trims come with a long list of standard features, including Blind-Spot Collision Warning, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, Driver Attention Warning, Leading Vehicle Departure Alert, Lane Following Assist, and Forward Collision Avoidance-Assist with Pedestrian Detection.
However, you can also opt for models higher up in the lineup to get advanced features like Cyclist Detection, Park Distance Warning-Rear, and Highway Driving Assist. One of the more intriguing features is Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control with Stop and Go. Using sensors and cameras, this system will automatically adjust the speed of the Niro when you’re cruising to keep a safe distance from the vehicle ahead of you.
